"How to Serve Allah SWT Together" by Sheikh Omar Suleiman

-We should be serving Allah SWT as a family. In this way the spouses push and support one another. Ex. Husband n wife fasting together, praying together, enjoining good and forbidding evil together. But, Usually when you get married, you get less active and more disconnected from one another. Don't use this as an excuse to slacking off in your religious duties.
-A du'a Prophet Muhammad SAW made for one of the sahabah: Oh Allah SWT don't make this marriage be a distraction (from You, from their real purpose in life) but pour your blessing on them. The bigger picture is to please and serve Allah SWT.
-Every relationship that doesn't take you closer to Allah SWT will be against you on the day of Judgement.
-Your spouse knows you best...especially the worst parts of you...they are in the best position to help you and advise you on how to become a better Muslim, better spouse and parent. Work on yourself together and your relationship together.
-Serve Allah SWT together and through one another.

Serving Allah SWT together:
(1) By first serving your spouse. Example: There is sadaqah in putting a morsel of food in your wife's mouth.
(2) Enjoining acts of Charity for the sake of Allah SWT - Going out to serve others together, be on board right away, want to please Allah SWT and Prophet Muhammad SAW immediately. Be involved together.
(3) Tahajjud and prayer - Do this together! A husband and wife who pray tahajjud together will be resurrected with a special title "the men and women who remember Allah SWT frequently".
Never take your work to the bedroom but take ibadah into the bedroom - in intimate places and times.
(4) Read Quran together and discuss religious issues together. Have deep religion discussions. Put it all together and do it all together. It's sweet and beautiful.
The relationships with the element of Allah SWT in them are the ones that will persist.

-When I do things with my spouse with Allah SWT in mind and encourage my spouse to do things together for the sake of Allah SWT, the relationship will get stronger and better, you will get through tough times together in a better way.
