Laylatul Qadr-The Night of Power!

By Abu Muhmmad Yusuf

Allah Ta’ala in His infinite Mercy has favoured us in so many ways. Such blessings that we cannot possibly enumerate nor show sufficient gratitude to the Almighty. Amongst the many blessings include a very special GIFT..Laylatul Qadr- The Night of Power.

It is an opportunity to gain closeness to our Creator, forgiveness of our sins and an elevated position in Jannah (Paradise). The Night of Power is better that a 1000 months(83 years, 4 months)!

Allah, Most Wise, says:

"The Night of Power is better than a thousand months.” (Quran 97:3 )

The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) is reported to have said:

“Whosoever stands in "Ibaadah" (worship) on this night, with sincere faith and with genuine hopes of gaining reward, his previous sins will be forgiven."(Hadith-Bukhari and Muslim)

When is it?

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) is reported to have said:

"Seek it (laylatul qadr) in Ramadan in the last ten nights. For verily, it is during the odd nights, 21st 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th or the last night of Ramadhan." (Sahih Hadith Ahmad 5:318)

From traditions we learn that among the signs of this night is that it is a serene, quiet, shining night, neither hot, nor cold but temperate as if a moon is shining clear, and no meteors are shot at the "Shayateen" on that night; it lasts until the break of the dawn. Another sign is that at morn, the Sun rises without any radiant beams of light, appearing rather like the moon in it's fullness. On that day, Allah prohibits the "Shayateen" from rising up with the Sun.

What to do on this night?

Worship during this night can take on many forms. Here are a few suggestions to help you through Laylatul Qadr:

· Take a vacation for Allah! If possible, take a vacation for the last 10 days of Ramadan.Plan ahead if you are working.

· Discuss the importance of this night with your friends and family and Islamic Scholars(Ulama). Create an atmosphere for ibadah(worship).

· Perform Itikaaf (seclusion in a Masjid for worship) –Try to spend full ten days in I’tikaf. If you cannot spend all 10 days in Itikaaf, then do as many days as you can - even if it is only one day. According to the Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) “whosoever performs "I'tikaaf" for a day thereby seeking the pleasure of Allah, Allah will spread three trenches between him and the fire of Hell, the width of each trench being greater than the distance between Heaven and the Earth."

· Increase the recitation of the Qur'an- Try to recite as much Qur’an as possible. There is great virtue in recitation. (reflect on the meaning of the verses, especially the verses used in Salah. This will help you concentrate)

· Increase Salah (prayer).Read as many Nawaafil (optional)Prayers as possible. Eg Tahajjud Salaah, Salatul Tasbih etc

· Make abundant Zikr (i.e remembering Allah, sending salawaat on our beloved Rasulullah(salallaho alaihe wassallam) and making Istigfaar(seeking forgiveness from Allah)

· Dua (Asking from Allah)- Spend lots of time begging from Allah to fulfil your needs and the needs of the Ummah both in this world and the hereafter. Ramadaan is replete with moments when duas are accepted. Aaisha (Radhiallaho anha) reports: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam), should I find myself the "Laylatul Qadr", what shall I pray. The Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) replied: say,

Allaahumma innaka afuwwun tohibbul'afwa fa'fu anna

"O Allah, Thou art the One who grants pardon for sins. Thou lovest to pardon, so pardon me." (Hadith-Recorded by Ahmad, Ibn Majah, and at-Tirmithi)

For the dua in Arabic script please see:http://eislaminfo.blogspot.com/2011/08/dua-laylatul-qadr_4495.html

· Make list of Things you need from Allah-Ask yourself what you really want from Allah. Make a list of each and everything, no matter how small or how big it is, whether it deals with this world or the hereafter. Allah loves to hear from us and wants us to beg of Him. Once this list is ready then use it in your prayers.

· Best time for dua- Make sincere and all-embracing Duas. One of the best times to do this is during the last part of the night especially at the time of suhoor (sehri). Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, related that Rasulullah (salallaho alaihe wassallam) said: When the last one-third of the night remains, our Lord, the Glorious One descends towards the heaven of the earth and proclaims: Who is that who supplicates for Me, and I grant his supplication? Who is that who begs Me for anything and I grant it to him? And who is that who seeks My forgiveness, and I forgive him? (Hadith-Bukhari, Muslim).

· Take regular breaks during the night to avoid getting over-exhausted. Try switching between different forms of worship.

May Allah accept our prayers and allow us to take full benefit of this Mubarak Night and let us not forget our brothers and sisters all over the world who are being oppressed and facing extreme hardships.

note for you nadia, be someone...

Be someone who listens, and you will be heard.
Be someone who cares, and you will be loved.
Be someone who gives, and you will be blessed.

Be someone kind, someone considerate, and you will be admired.
Be someone who values truth, and you will be respected.

kalam sheikh 3 : doktor muslim

3:31 AM

emotionally mature

11:41 PM

You have the freedom to make your own choices.
Take a personal inventory of the contents of your mind, then choose thoughts of health, happiness, peace, and abundance and you will reap fabulous dividends in all your relationships.

becoming emotionally mature;

what someone else says cannot really  annoy or irritate you
unless you permit it to disturb you.
The only path by which another person can upset you is through your own thought.
If you get angry, you have to go through four stages in your mind.
You begin to think about what was said.
You decide to get angry and generate an emotion of rage.
Then you decide to act.
Perhaps you talk back and react in kind.
As you see,
the thought, emotion, reaction, and action all take place in your own mind.

what does it mean to be emotionally mature?

It means that you move beyond the natural,
but childish, tendency to respond negatively to the criticism and resentment of others.
No one likes to be criticized or belittled.
However, we have the ability to choose how to react when it happens.
The mature choice is to refrain from responding in a similarity negative way.
Responding in kind means to descend to the level of belittling criticism and to become one with the negative atmosphere of the other.
Identify yourself with your own aim in life.
Do not permit any person, place, or thing to deflect you from your inner sense of peace, tranquility and radiant health.

so people,
lets together try to become emotionally mature,
permit other people to differ with us.
They have the perfect right to disagree with us,
and we have the same freedom to disagree with them.
We can disagree without being disagreeable :)

 the master key to happy relations;
pass no judgement, and you will not be judged.
for as you judge others, so you will yourselves be judged,
and whatever measure you deal out to others will be dealt back to you.

this kind of book can help you alot when you're in need indeed.
as a mind therapy after al-Quran :)

salam people ! :)

#selfnoteselfreminder#

The following is from a friend. I found it interesting. Hope you do too.

"Marriage is a school where you get the certificate before you start.

A school where you will never graduate.

A school without a break or a free period.

A school where no one is allowed to drop out.

A school which you will have to attend every day of your life.

A school where there is no sick leave or holidays.

A school founded by the Almighty:
1.On the foundation of love,
2.The walls made of trust,
3.The door made of acceptance,
4.The windows made of understanding.
5.The furniture made of blessings.
6.The roof made of faith.

Before you forget, you are just a student not the principal. The Almighty is the principal.

Even at times of a storm, don't be unwise and run outside.

Remember this school is the safest place to be.

Never go to sleep before completing your assignments for the day.

Never forget the C-word, communicate, communicate, communicate with your classmate and with the Principal.

If you find something in your classmate (spouse) that you do not appreciate, remember your classmate is also just a student not a graduate. The Almighty is not finished with him/her yet, so take it as a challenge and work on it together.

Do not forget to study, study, study the Noble Book (the main textbook in this school).

Start each day with a sacred assembly and end it the same way.

Sometimes you will feel like not attending class, yet you have to.

When tempted to quit find the courage and continue.

Some tests and exams may be tough but remember the Principal knows how much you can bear.

Still, it is one of the best schools on earth; joy, peace and happiness accompany each lesson of the day.

Different subjects are offered in this school, yet love is the major subject.

After all the years of being theoretical about it, now you have a chance to practice it.

To be loved is a good thing, but to love is the greatest privilege of them all.

Marriage is a place of love, so love your spouse but remember: "This class doesn't involve a person who is not permitted into it"! If you invite your mother or father or your friends to this class, or anyone who is not allowed to be there, you will fail the exam.

It is you who should attend and it is you who will pass.

Its your choice today:" build it or break it".

May the Almighty bless us all. Aameen "
